The Alpaca Burger

It doesn’t matter where you are travelling to, trying the local FOOD should be high on your priority list of things to do in a new place.

There are many delicacies in Peru, South America. Pisco sours (a cocktail), ceviche (a seafood dish), and guinea pig just to name a few. However, heading up into the Andes mountain range to the city of Cusco you will find the Alpaca, who are not just there to provide wool.

Jack’s Cafe in Cusco is famous for their Alpaca. If you are bold enough to try it, their menu offers the Jack’s Alpaca Burger or the Alpaca Sandwich.

Your are on an adventure though, right? So, hurry up and put your order in…

On first glance you think, Wow! It looks just like a regular beef burger.

And then you wrap your hands around the bun, pray to the Gods it doesn’t taste too bad, and then head in for your first bite…

It’s juicy, tender, and deliciously sweet, without having the same fattiness of beef. And to top it off the accompanying chutney is to die for…

If you have ever tried Kangaroo meat before, then you will find the Alpaca meat to be very similar in taste.

So, next time you are somewhere new… Be Bold. Be Brave. And try the UNIQUE.

TIP: The meal sizes are very generous at Jack’s Cafe, so if ordering the burger or sandwich go there hungry. Otherwise, you will be rolling out the door. Very reasonably priced.
